Eating things that are Dutch

I was getting faster at this. Not a full day in Amsterdam before I knew we would have to have some Dutch pancakes. And so we did, at the aptly named Pancake House (I am not sure why the name was in English).

Preeta helped herself to some molasses as we waited for our orders. (Just kidding, she didn't really spoon molasses from the communal bowl into her mouth. That would be disgusting.)

I got a chorizo and cheese pancake. It was pretty good, with the cheese having some nice nuttiness and the chorizo acting like its friend salami, which actually worked out ok. The pancake was a little thin and a little burnt. Sort of an odd take on a crepe. not sure if that was standard practice or not.

Preeta opted for the sweet route, and got peaches and creme in her crepe. Sadly, the peaches were of the lowest order: canned! And just as it is becoming peach season (in the States at least). What a travesty. The pancake itself had been cooked ok but couldn't make up for the lackluster fruit.

Patrik went for the ham, cheese, and mushroom crepe. Also a bit of a let down, as the flavors muddied with no real benefit.

So I would say all in all, a thumbs-down from our group. Surely Dutch pancakes can be excellent, but this wasn't it.
